User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 This problem seems to be the opposite of the problems with the acrobat plug-in reported by others. I would like pdf files to open in the browser using the acrobat plug-in. I have Adobe Acrobat 5.0 (installed long ago), and recently installed Mozilla (v. 1.4) for the first time. I copied nppdf32.dll to C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\plugins, and I have made sure that "Display PDF in Browser" is selected in the Acrobat Preferences. If I launch Mozilla and click on a link to a pdf file (MIME type application/pdf), the plug-in does not load and I get a download dialog box instead, as if Mozilla doesn't know what to do with the MIME type. HOWEVER, if I access Mozilla's Help: About Plug-ins, the Acrobat plug-in is listed as installed, and then afterwards, the plug-in works as it should. In other words, Mozilla seems not to be looking for its installed plug-ins until Help: About Plug-ins forces it to. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Launch Mozilla 2.Access a web page containing links to pdf files 3.Click on a link to a pdf file 4.A download dialog appears. Note that the MIME type is application/pdf, which should trigger the plug-in. 5.Cancel the download 6.On the Mozilla toolbar, click Help:About Plug-ins 7.Note that the acrobat plug-in is installed. 8.Click on a link to a pdf file again. 9.The acrobat plug-in loads and the file is displayed in the browser as it should be. Actual Results: See above Expected Results: Loaded the pdf file in the browser using the plug-in the first time
Summary: acrobat plug-in is installed but ignored until Help:About Plug-ins is accessed → acrobat plug-in is installed but ignored until Help:About Plug-ins is accessed
