>I finally found a good text search prog (Win2k's text search sucks). Hopefully I >can fix bug 223488 soon grep -rn on a *nix box is your friend. I just tried to upload the results of it, but even gzipped, it's too big for Bugzilla. :) Want me to email it to you? listing includes filename and line number of each line matching "@netscape.com" in the webtree. It's 385K gzipped, 3.2 MB uncompressed.

Dave, could you email it to me? nb+moz@nb02.net
Done. see your mail
Do we want to replace every email address? I have emailed several people who I found new email addresses for on ex-mozilla.org asking if I should replace their netscape ones with their current ones. When I emailed brendan, he stated that he would prefer that I not replace his old ones on some testcases and stuff, and just leave them alone. I will abide by his wishes, however, I would personally think that either we should remove the netscape address or replace it with a valid address. If I wanted to contact someone based on a link on a website, I would expect the email address to work.
My exact message to Nicholas: I'd rather you didn't change any of these historical references, testcases, and the like. These are not docs meant to help put people in touch with me today. Some of these docs (the first one,docs/refList/i18n/schedule.html) are obsolete, of historical interest only, and could be cvs-removed, it seems to me. /be

Make sure that docs that are being removed get the appropriate 410 header. A lot of abandoned projects use old mail addresses as well, by the way. I suggested in bug 44073 that we might want to put a warning message at the top of old (project) files.

Closing as wontfix based on comments #5 and #7. Our current archiving policy involves removing files from www.mozilla.org and having these pages automatically redirect to www-archive.mozilla.org where there is a notice saying this content is out of date. The goal of the archive site is to provide a snapshot from a certain time so we don't tend to update those pages. On the other hand, if there are any pages on www.mozilla.org that are current and not going to be archived, I think we should update any posted contact information. That's a separate bug though since it doesn't involve doing a search and replace for all netscape.com email addresses. If you do find a page on www.mozilla.org with outdated contact information, please open a new bug.
