I have discovered the same bug.
The problem occurred when I updated to Mozilla 1.5.
Crash occurs even with a new profile. I also tried both settings "Open the
download manager" and "Don't open anything" in preferences.
The operating system is Max OS X 10.1.5.

I believe it was 10.1.5. I'm now on 10.3.1, and it seems to work on this version, so I guess this can
either be counted as a dupe or just resolved as unconfirmed..
