User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007
Several users have an IMAP account that connects to the same server (UW) and
account.
When one user applies a label on a mail (e.g. "important"), other users see this
when they enter the same folder.
When the first user changes the label (e.g. "to do"), other users see the change
when they select a different folder and come back here. Good.
But when the first user sets the label to 0 (none), the last assigned label
remains on the mail for the other users. Apparently the mail agent does see a
change from no label to any label, or between labels, but does not notice a
change from any label to none. It keeps using the locally stored info (.msf file)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. setup IMAP account on two systems
2. make sure there is mail in a folder (e.g. Inbox)
3. mark a message as "red"
4. go to other system, view folder, see the red color
5. mark message as "none" on first system
6. message remains "red" on second system.
7. mark message as "blue" on first system
8. message changes to "blue" on second system as well.
Expected Results:
When changing label to "none", other users should see that change.
As far as I remember, it has worked OK in 1.3

Problem continues to exist in Mozilla 1.6. Unlabelling broken in IMAP mail.
UA: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040116
rep_platform & op_sys should probably be "All".

A fix has been checked in for bug 235354. Does that also address this problem?

Which version can I test to validate this? Now have Mozilla 1.8b installed, is
that OK?

Nightly builds from yesterday onward -- the official Mozilla 1.8b release was a
little too early for this.
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/nightly/latest/
or for Thunderbird

Rob Janssen, have you had a chance to test a recent build? If the problem has
been fixed, please mark this bug as a dupe of bug 235354.

Testing this with nightly builds is a litte inpractical for me.
(it is a corporate environment)

I still do have this problem in current 2.0.0.19 on Windows XP. We have a Cyrus email server at work and I access the server from my work computer and from my personal laptop at home. When I label messages with TODO on one computer, they appear labelled on the other computer, too, but when I remove the label on one computer, the label still appears on the other computer.

FYI.
"Label feature" is changed to "Tag feature" by Tb 2. Bug 450246 is bug for same symptom as this bug on "tag".
