Mozilla 1.5 installs for Windows98 but won't run. 1.4.1 installed with an error but seems to run fine.

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.4.1) Gecko/20031008 Build Identifier: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.5/mozilla-win32-1.5-installer.exe Executing the installation program downloaded from the URL above resulted in appearing that everything installed properly, but then when Mozilla was run, it would appear to start and then stop. Searching in the task manager for a currently running instance revealed nothing. Finally, in frustration, I downloaded version 1.4.1 and was happy to find that it installed without a hitch. This is windows 98, not 98SE; I noticed on the page to download 1.5 that the minimum requirement appears to be 98SE, however, 1.4.1 worked properly. If 1.5 is not meant for 98, perhaps the installer should check and post a message saying so. I should also mention that I had to reinstall Mozilla because I had to reinstall win98. I installed it into a different directory, so no existing settings should have caused problems. To ensure this, I archived and deleted the pre-existing windows directory, reinstalled, and then tried to run it again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download from URL above 2. Execute installation 3. Execute mozilla from any icons created by installation Actual Results: nothing. (It appeared to start but never came up -- not even the splash screen showed. No information was given, either in a DOS box using start command, or using GUI.
I´m running on a Win98 box with 96 MB of RAM, 1.5 is working, and I´m commenting this with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031030. Did you use the same old profile, and did you have extensions installed? In the last phase of installing, you are asked to select a profile, or start. There you should start 'Manage Profiles' and then create a new one, just for test.
I don't believe that I saw a screen concerning profiles. However, icons were created, which I thought was the last thing an installation program does. There was no "old profile", unless NS 4.07 uses the same profile settings as Mozilla 1.5. While it was a reinstallation, it was not (in effect) an reinstallation into an OS that had previously had Mozilla installed (or anything but IE6.0 and NS 4.07 installed.)
Reporter, still a problem with Mozilla 1.6 final or 1.7 alpha/beta release? If not, please resolve this bug as WORKSFORME.
No response. Marking WFM.
