I have tried this a few times now and it seems to work.
1) Open FB maximised (not full screen) and the Preferences display is a problem.
2) Open FB with a smaller window and prefernces is NO problem.
I hope this comment may help find the cause

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open FB , with reduced window size
2.Open Options->Preferences
3.Do whatever you want.
Actual Results:  
No crash/freeze

Expected Results:  
This is correct behaviour, that is not working if one works with a maximised screen.
