User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031023
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031023

When I open a mail window or just a web page which requires access to my stored
paswords "Enter the master password for the Software Security Device" window
appears. If I just leave it hanging on the screen the second window will appear
in a couple of minutes, then third (I never managed to get more than 3 windows
at a time).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.logout from the passowrd manager (you must have the Master Password enabled)
2.open a mail window (if you have a stored mail passwords) or a web page which
requires a stored pasword
3.wait for 5 minutes or so

Actual Results:
You'll have 3 "Enter the master password for the Software Security Device"
windows hangind on the screen.

Expected Results:
Only one window should appear.

Thanks for the bug report.

Is this a new bug in Mozilla 1.5?
Or did you see it in older versions like 1.4, too?

I think I've seen it in older versions, but I'm not 100% sure.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

The latest beta releases can be obtained from:
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/
Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/1.5beta1.html
Seamonkey: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/
The bug is still there. New "Enter the master password for the Software Security
Device" window appears every ~45 seconds. (mozilla 1.7.12 GTK2+Xft).
Also I see no sense in the "cancel" button in this dialog 'cause window
reappears again right after pressing it :)

this is espcially noticeable when using the session save and restarting with lots of open tabs and windows. sometimes other modal dialogs steal the focus from you and things are happening so slowly that you can't get back to the master security device password prompt before another pops up :(

This still exists in the latest Minefield nightly. I'm not sure why Firefox can't just reuse the existing modal window every time it wants to ask for a password. I actually locked up the browser by hibernated Windows and I came back and there were hundreds of windows asking for my master password.
Duping to the newer bug which contains a suggestion for how to resolve this issue.
