Please check and possibly remove bookmarks.hmtl from Your profile directory (in
WindowsXP it's Documents & Settings\account\Application Data\Mozilla) and give a
note if it worked.
Meaby it's dupe of bug 52205 ?

Did you install an exe, or a zip? Did you install ontop of 1.4.1, or into a new
unused directory? Did you use the 1.4.1 profile, or created a new one?
Are extensions installed?
There are three places where bookmarks can be shown: Sidebar, Personal Toolbar,
Bookmarks Manager. Where do you expect them?
Open Bookmarks Manager, Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks, and have a look into the
View Menu over there. You can set a folder as New Bookmark Folder, or New
Inetrnet Search Folder, or Personal Toolbar Folder. To do so, you must select a
folder, and then set it using the View menu. If the 'Set as' line is grayed out,
the currently selected folder is already set for this option.
I´m using the Personal Toolbar to hold my bookmarks folders, and I use drag&drop
to add bookbarks. I also can change the bookmarks file in the Bookmarks Manager
using Tools->Open Bookmark File...
That is not importing a file, but releasing the old file and replacing it by
another one. The old file stays unchanged, you can go back, if you want to.
I just noticed that setting the NewBookmarkFolder doesn´t change the look of the
folder in the Bookmark Manager, but adding bookmarks to this folder is working
for me.
