Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031211 Firebird/0.7+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031211 Firebird/0.7+ When dragging a segment of text on the page, it is impossible to scroll in any manner. I searched in both the Browser and Firebird components, and found nothing. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Highlight a segment of text on this page. 2. Pull the mouse cursor to drag the text. 3. Attempt to move downwards/upwards to scroll, and if a mousewheel is available, try to scroll with that. Actual Results: Nothing happened. Expected Results: The page should have scrolled appropriately. There is a thread at Mozillazine discussing this: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=38199
I think the most common solution in other applications is "bump-scrolling" where edges of the viewport act as hot-spots for the duration of the drag operation. The user should only need to hover over the hot-spots (while still holding the item being dragged), to cause the scroll.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031216 Firebird/0.7+ WORKSFORME. It may just be a linux thing. Can anyone confirm this using anything but Linux?
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031216 Firebird/0.7+ Same build as Casey, but I do see this bug.
Summary: when highlighting and dragging and dropping text segment from page, page cannot scroll → dragging text to top/bottom of viewport does not scroll
Yes, I have seen this bug on a Windows build too, as I dual-boot between Windows XP and Linux.
Well? Can anyone confirm this? This is a rather useful feature...
Sigh...I thought this would be more active, given how helpful a feature this is.
I can confirm this on: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040503 Firefox/0.8.0+ Mouse move up/down, arrow key up/down, and scrollwheel - None of these scroll. And I agree, this is annoying!
Confirming Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040408 Firefox/0.8.0+
