Some attachments sent in mails from the web interface of mail.yahoo.com will not
show up in mozilla mail.
The mail size is given correctly, but the attachment is invisible.
I don't have a US yahoo.com mail account (it works from the German web
interface), but I can give you an example mail below:

WORKSFORME with Thunderbird 0.5a (2003-12-16 build)/Win-ME.
Your sample mail is ;
> Content-Type: multipart/mixed
> (1) 1st part = Content-Type: multipart/alternative
> (1-1) 1st part = Content-Type: text/plain
> "ASCII-Mail-Body"
> (1-2) 2ndt part = Content-Type: text/html
> "HTML-Mail-Body"
> (2) 2nd part = Content-Type: application/msword; name="xxx.doc"
> Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="xxx.doc"
> (Data of MS WORD file is contained)
When View/"Message Body As"=Original HTML, "HTML-Mail-Body" was displayed,
and when View/Message Body As=Plain Text, "ASCII-Mail-Body" was displayed.
Attached MS WORD file is displayed as an attacement with file name of "xxx.doc".
Thunderbird displayed this mail properly as designed accoding to mail headers.
Tim O', what do you mean "Some attachments will not show up in mozilla mail"?
Different result on Mozilla?
If you do not have MS WORD and you are suffuring from and can not afford to MS
WORD files from US yahoo, install OpenOffice from OpenOffice.org like me.
>Attached MS WORD file is displayed as an attacement with file name of "xxx.doc".
That's the point. Mozilla mail will not display the file - there is no paper
clip icon in the message list, there is no file xxx.doc that I could click on to
save it to disk or open it
>Thunderbird displayed this mail properly as designed accoding to mail headers.
Mozilla won't
>Tim O', what do you mean "Some attachments will not show up in mozilla mail"?
>Different result on Mozilla?
There is no "Attachments" list in the message pane view.
>If you do not have MS WORD and you are suffuring from and can not afford to
>MS WORD files from US yahoo, install OpenOffice from OpenOffice.org like me.
That's not the problem. Doc files sent from other clients display properly and I
can open or save them from mozilla mail.

Sorry Tim, I pasted your Mail into my Inbox and it's displayed as it should be.
I tested with Mozilla 1.5 final and 1.6b 2003112708.
Note: The message is located on an IMAP server
If I forward the message to myself, the attachment is displayed.

Similar to Bug 199979.
> Mail doesn't know attachments exist until message is read
Can reproduce with messages sent from David messaging system (Tobit Software).
Attachments are not displayed until mozilla is restarted
I just sent to myself (as cc) an e-mail from Mozilla 1.6 which had a little text
and five pdf-file attachments (together about 1.5MB). When I received the e-mail
from the IMAP server, Mozilla showed only the three first attachments. I
rechecked that I had indeed sent all the files (from the Sent folder), and Pine
4.58 using the same IMAP connection showed all the files. Mozilla showed only
the three, regardless of what I did (I opened the message in its own window, I
restarted Mozilla etc.). The message's text was plain text.
Dunno if it was related to the fact that the INBOX file in Mozilla's profile (I
had selected offline usage for inbox) was about 70MB, even though there were
only about 2MB of messages. It seems that Mozilla doesn't make the INBOX-file
smaller even when expunging/compacting/anything, but that's another bug.
Using Mozilla 1.6/Linux.

See a similar problem in bug 234547 -- in that case, the MIME boundary string
between parts is lacking an embedded space that appears in the declaration.
The mail source excerpted to this bug does not exhibit such a problem.

Comment 7, comment 8, and comment 9 are probably all unrelated to this problem.

Tim O: Is this true whether you view the message as HTML or as Plain Text? If
the attachments show when viewing as Plain, does the (original) HTML body have a
link to the attachment?

Well, without data, this bug can't be further diagnosed.
