...until we have finished downloading the attachment.
This is a spin off bug from Bug #83803 which added support for dragging
attachments from mail to the desktop or the file system.
It is caused by the implemenation used to fix Bug #97413.
It would be fixed by fixing Bug #203307 which describes how the drag and drop
code should really be implemented.

Couldn't you just grey out the attachment icon until it's ready?

In the last two or three weeks I've noticed that I cannot drag attachments from IMAP messages to my desktop. I thought that previously I had been able to do so. When I attempt to drag the attachments, my cursor changes so that it looks like something is being dragged, but when I drop it, nothing happens at all.
There's another problem that started about the same time. If I have messages set to always display as plain text, embedded images will show up in the attachment window. When I try to drag those "attachments" from an IMAP message, they actually will drop onto my desktop. However, when they are dropped, they are renamed to INBOXnnnnnn, where INBOX is the names of the IMAP folder and nnnnnn is the "Order Received" number of the message. The file is actually OK, so if I add the correct extension to it, it will open without a problem. Images that are dragged inline from an e-mail drop just fine on my desktop with the correct file name.
When I try to drag an attachment from a message that's in Local Folders and drop them on my desktop, I also get the attachment renamed, but just with the same name as the folder that the message was in. So, if I drag an attachment from a message that's in folder "Committee", when I drop the attachment, it is named "Committee".
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060324 SeaMonkey/1.5a
I have this same problem too.
But my biggest problem is I want to drag the entire e-mail to the desktop and have the attachments remain. I can do a "save as" to save the e-mail to the desktop but I can't drag and drop the entire e-mail. I just get a circle with a line through it.
