So it works with a different video driver?
it seems after some testing that the videocard / driver can't be the problem. I took out of my computer all hardware but the videocard and the network card. I reinstalled eCs 1.1 with default vga and installed Mozilla 1.3 ( the version shipped with eCs ). Same result. Since it worked with my computer and not anymore it must be something that's changed. So I uninstalled systemcommander. This is a bootmanager I use because I also have several windows versions on my harddisk. I used a bootfloppy to startup dos and used fdisk/mbr to rewrite the mbr. All possible conflict items are now removed from the computer. I remmed out ( step by step ) all not important stuff from the config.sys ( still in vga mode ) but this does not seem to solve the problem. Still with only the vga adapter and network adapter in the pc I reinstalled snap video driver and re enabled all lines in the config.sys. If you want I can email what and how I did these things since I have written them down :-) For now I give up. I have no clue what to do next, where to look or what to try. I will continue to install and update the system. I find it strange that ibm webbrowser and netscape ( both the versions from eCs install cd ) work just fine. So maby you can tell me what is the difference ?
Haven't you got mix up of Mozilla and IBM WebBrowser DLLs ? Instruction from http://www.os2bbs.com/os2news/Warpzilla.html ===== You can run multiple versions of Mozilla / Firebird / Thunderbird at the same time, as long as you are careful. You must use different profiles for each version, and run a little script to start it (such as mozilla.cmd): SET MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 SET LIBPATHSTRICT=T SET MOZILLA_HOME=<profile_path> SET PATH=<mozilla_directory>;%PATH% SET BEGINLIBPATH=<mozilla_directory> mozilla.exe MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 keeps Mozilla from creating the parent message window, so two Mozilla's can no longer detect that each other is running. LIBPATHSTRICT=T forces DLLs to be loaded from the correct place, instead of using what is already in memory (this feature requires a recent OS/2 kernel).
I did not mix up the dll's. Unless this is done by default from the installer. I tried the set commands and created a .cmd file and mozilla 1.3 is working now. Later I will install mozilla 1.6 and try this version also. I guess there will be no problems any more. So the solution of my problem is in one of the set commands. Thanks for the support. If version 1.6 is not working I will let you know.
The installer is pretty dumb atm. It doesn't check for other mozilla-derived software installed and possible DLL mix-up. I've filled bug 234453 for that. Marking as WFM.
