Just as the subject says...
I think it would be better for Ctrl+K to search for the selected text, so I don't have to press Enter after pressing Ctrl+K.
Summary: Highlight text, Ctrl+K should put text in search field → Highlight text, Ctrl+E should put text in search field

WORKAROUND: Select the phrase that you want to search for. Use the keyboard shortcut CONTEXT+S (where the context buttin is the button to the right of the Windows key on the keyboard). Works on Ubuntu, I presume it works on Windows too. There's probably something similar for Mac. If for some reason the keyboard doesn't have a context menu key, SHIFT + F10 does the same thing in Firefox though it is an extra key.
(In reply to Richard Klein from comment #2) > This should work with Ctrl+F as well. This actually works, the OP is still not working. There may be a problem if there is a selection on the page and the user selectes the search bar to change task (so unrelated to the selection), though it still seems an handy option with some benefits.
