User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040207 Firefox/0.8 My setup was this: I had two fire fox windows open, each of them with about 6 tabs. One window had about 6 tabs on the URL above (de.tikiwiki.org). That URL in itself hangs firefox while it loads. I opened up another tab and initiated a search in the page. The search dialog was un-usuable, no button did anything and I couldn't close it (i'm on ximian2 on redhat9). Note that the browser was still usable, I just had this dialog box hanging around. I came here to register an account and report the bug, and when it prompted me if I wanted to remember my bugzilla password, fiefox totally hung, couldn't close/click anything. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. open up several of those complex urls 2. open up a non-complex url 3. try to do something that causes a dialog pop by firefox (search, password, etc) Actual Results: Sometimes hangs Expected Results: First, Firefox shouldn't hang - whether that be the 2 second hanging while loading the above URL, or totally hanging with the dialog boxes I marked this as a critical because it hangs and caused me to loose my data :|
Here is the URL: http://de.tikiwiki.org/xref-head/nav.html?lib/pear/SOAP/example/client.php.html I was browsing several of these examples in the SOAP directory
Come to think of it, I think this problem arises over time since I remember this exact same thing happening over time since browsing to that URL after the crash isn't as slow. Maybe if I leave firefox running for a few hours and try then.

Hi Al, I can't seem to reproduce your bug in Windows XP. But, then, it may be a Linux-specific problem. Until a Linux user can confirm your bug, could you please try out the following possibilities: - Do you have any browser extensions installed? If so, try disabling them and see if that fixes it. or: - Do you have any browser themes installed (other than the one that comes packaged with Firefox)? If so, try disabling them and see if that fixes it. or: - It's possible your user profile has been corrupted between versions. Please try starting Firefox with a fresh profile: temporarily remove your old profile, which should be in a folder named Phoenix, wherever your application preferences are kept. Please let us know whether or not any of those things fix it. cheers
Ok, I'll try that later... FYI, I have Web Developer 0.61, editCSS0.01.3 -2003118, WML Browser v0.4.1 and Live HTTP Headers installed. I also thought of another condition which might cause the browser to hang. I've been developing PHP based SOAP servers/clients all weekend, perhaps a malformed HTTP header as I was testing/developing caused it?

Hi Al, did you get a chance to try out my suggestions? Just curious if any of those things fixed your browser issues. :)

WFM. I had 7 tabs from the URL listed open, went to GMail and got the save password dialog to come up, worked fine. Although I did see the slugishness when loading the tabs, it may be due to the code of the site rather than firefox. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040615 Firefox/0.9 slackwareLinux-current Please try with a new build and a new profile. Make sure you install it to a new directory (not overwriting your old one). Try again and see if you can still reproduce. If not, please resolve this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks.
