If mail is received and a message filter moves the message to another folder and
clears the message flag, the folder still appears bold as if there is still an
unread message in that folder.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up a mail filter that moves a message to another folder and then clears
the message flag.
2. Send a test message that will meet the filter criteria.
3. Watch as the messages get flagged as read, but the folder still appears bold
as if there are unread messages in it.

I set up a filter which moves the mail from an IMAP account to a local folder
and set it as read.
The message is moved to the local folder, but it remains unread. The folder is
bold as it has an unread message.

Reporter (MattMc3): you say "the folder appears bold" -- does it also show the
number after the folder name, e.g. "(1)"? Or just bold?
If just bold, see the recent discussion bug 201917. I'm not sure if this is a
dupe of that problem; that bug has gone off on a tangent that I believe is
unrelated to the original problem.
If the number appears, that implies that the message actually *is* unread, altho
you say "Watch as the messages get flagged as read." See bug 254589.
Frivolt Gyuri, I think that is the bug you are describing, as well.

I have reproduced this bug independently. It appears as described - and is
quite annoying!
The folder name appears in bold, with the bracketed number, as if the folder
contains unread messages. Viewing the folder reveals no unread messages, and
refreshes the folder name so it is no longer bold. I can find no other way to
force the folder name to display correctly.
This bug manifests itself when moving messages to an IMAP store folder, as well
as to a local folder as reported in Comment #1.

I had this problem with Thunderbird 0.7 and currently have it with Thunderbird
1.0 (20041206). OS is Win2k Pro, SP4.
I have one IMAP account. All mail received on that account is filtered and
delivered to various local folders.
When a message arrives:
1. I receive a taskbar notification and sound.
2. Both the IMAP folder and the local folder show the "new mail" icon. The IMAP
folder shows no message count.
3. I click on the local folder and its icon changes back to normal. The Taskbar
icon is still there.
4. When I click on the message it is marked as read.
5. The IMAP folder still shows the new mail icon and the taskbar new mail icon
is still there.
6. Only when I click on the IMAP inbox folder does the taskbar icon go away.
If I click on the IMAP inbox first and clear its "new message" state, I still
need to click on the local folder and view the message for the taskbar icon to
clear.
Audible new message alerts and taskbar animations do not work until both folders
are manually "cleared" as above.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
