Having taken the original code from http://www.mozilla.org/editor/midasdemo/
made it more cross browser and added a DIV creation method I noticed that when
the DIV is created as position:relative it is not possible to get a resizeing
border. Double clicking it does give it the focus. This can be seen by pressing
the left or right cursor keyboard keys and observing the flashing cursor in the
DIV element. However, no border is drawn. IN IE a relative DIV is resizeable
like an absolute one.
