User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 Downloading a fix for a firewall from http://smoothwall.org/get/download/patches/2.0-fixes2.html gives a corrupted file. The MD5 checksum is not correct and filecompare (fc /b) shows differences. When I download the same file with Mozilla or MS-IE the file is downloaded correctly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download file 2. 3. Actual Results: Corrupted downloaded file Expected Results: Correct download
It seems to be the specific file at the URL: http://download.smoothwall.org/archive/updates/2.0/2.0-fixes2.tar.gz The correct size is 2,132,235 bytes (Downloaded with M$ IE and a correct MD5 checksum) The downloaded file has 2,150,400 bytes
I tried to reproduce this on Windows and Linux using Firefox 0.8, and on both platforms the downloaded file was the correct size in bytes, and had the correct MD5 checksum on both platforms. Can anyone else reproduce this? Maybe it's a Win9x bug, as I was only able to test on Windows XP. It's also possible that the reporter has some weird transparent caching proxies that could be screwing things up. Reporter, can you try this download again with a clean profile, and making sure that you installed Firefox 0.8 into a clean directory.
