User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113 This is a problem I have been having with Mapquest through several versions of Mozilla. The map displays correctly on the screen and in Print Preview mode, but when I actually print the map many of the details (streets, park boundaries, etc.) are missing, as if "whited out"; all of the text (street names, park names, etc.) is printed. The problem occurs consistently whether I use the "Send to Printer" button in Mapquest (javascript:window.print()), the "File:Print..." command in Mozilla, or the "File:Print Preview:Print..." command in Mozilla. The problem still occurs when I check the "Print Background (colors & images" button in Page Setup. The problem does NOT occur when printing from Internet Explorer version 6.0.2800.1106 on the same system. My printer is a Lexmark Optra E+ laser printer (old model, not currently sold) using the PCL 8.01 driver (provided by the vendor, Lexmark). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. go to http://www.mapquest.com 2. enter address, such as "8132 Lee Hwy" in the "Address or Intersection" field; "Falls Church" in the "City" field; "VA" in the "State" field; and "22042-1112" in the "ZIP Code" field. (This is just an example, any valid address should give the same results.) 3. Click "Get Map" button. 4. A new page should appear that displays the map with "Zoom In ... Zoom Out" buttons to the right of the map. Now click the "Print" button above the map. [Or you can enter the full URL I gave above, which should take you to the same place as steps 1 to 4.] 5. A new page should appear that shows the printable map (larger size on screen, no "Zoom" buttons). Now print the page with the "File:Print" command in Mozilla. Actual Results: The page prints, but most of the graphical details of the map are missing as if "whited out". The text in the map, such as street names, does print. Expected Results: Should have printed the map with full detail like Internet Explorer does on the same system.
Sounds like a Windows image printing issue (prints fine on Linux).

This happens to me as well on even the latest Firefox 1.5 builds. However, print preview also shows the incorrect layout. Entire pages can be white out. I think it's quite a serious bug some most people would want to print out directions. Also I'm on XP so it's not only Win98, and both Opera and IE prints the pages out correctly so it's probably not a Windows problem either.

Is this still an issue ?

do you see this issue still with version 3.6 or 4.0 beta?
