You can do this with stored queries, so this should come with a stored reports/charts implementation.

I agree, this is a very basic function that is missing. There has been no update on this since 2008! Could someone provide a status please?
The status is that nothing has happened (pretty well expressed by silence in this ticket), and that patches are welcome to get things going. :)
