User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040316 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040316 I do have several folders on my (secure)IMAP account which will all be checked for new messages. (right click on a folder and select Properties -> General Information -> [x] Check this folder for new messages). When I updated to 1.7 beta in the folders list will be folder displayed as having new messages (sometimes additional bugus numbers of unread messages will be displayed as well) in it but if you go to the folder there will not be a new message. I think this is either a IPv6 problem (since we use it in our LAN) or a problem in relationship with our IMAP server (Cyrus IMAP) and mozilla. With 1.7a and earlier everything worked fine Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Check option "Check this folder for new messages" for some of your Secure IMAP folders 2. Restart Mozilla 3. Look in folders which will be displayed as having new/unread messages Actual Results: You will see that number of displayed new/unread messages will not be correct Expected Results: Only display new/unread messages if there are really some
This problem will not be happen with another mail account outside the LAN and with another mail server

This is probably because we're using the imap status command to see if there are new messages in the folder instead of selecting the folder and downloading new headers. There were several bugs in this area, especially when messages were filtered/moved out of the folder, but I thought all of those were cleared up. You can try attaching an imap protocol log when this happens: http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html#imap and tell me which folder(s) exhibited the problem. Also, after that, you can try setting the following pref to false: "mail.imap.use_status_for_biff" and we'll go back to selecting the folder and downloading all the headers to see if there's new mail.

Folder in log above is w3d. Using "mail.imap.use_status_for_biff", false will reduce the problem but not completely solve it. Wrong display will be shown more less than without the option. Do you need a log with the option as well?
looking at the log, it looks to me like status for w3d never says there are unread messages, and also, I never see you actually selecting the w3d folder. Are you saying that the folder pane said there were new or unread messages, but you selected the w3d folder, and didn't see any unread or new messages in it? Because I don't see you opening that folder. Besides the INBOX, I see you opening INBOX.listen.beta.betaman, INBOX.listen.qa, and Trash.

Where not sure about folder. This time it has been folder "ras" and "Drafts". I selected them after they displayed a number of unread messages. When selecting them they showed no new message.

there's a proposed fix in bug 239196 - this bug is a dup of that, or vice versa, but I'll wait until the fix is in to mark them as such.
"mail.imap.use_status_for_biff", false will not really solve the problem, it very ofter downloads the message headers for the who folder if you open it. This is a big problem if you have folders with very much messages in it. It seams that either mozilla or the IMAP server forgets the folder status and needs to rebuild.
marking dup - should be fixed in tomorrow's build. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 239196 ***
