the search history for the toolbar seach is not seperately clearable, it is
linked to other autocomplete data
not so good having huge numbers of past searches in the search history, but dont
want to delete all other autocomplete data.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. perform a number of searches from the toolbar

Actual Results:  
huge list builds up with no way of simply clearing it

Expected Results:  
should be an option in 'tools > options > security' for search history, and
possibly a link at the bottom of the history to quickly clear the search history
(like safari)

This has been fixed in the latest nightly builds. Select the item you want to
remove and press shift + delete

this does not clear the whole search history, and going through 50 or 100
entries individually deleting them is not a particularly usable solution. I do
not see that as "resolved"

firefox is trying to promot itself on being able to quickly delete information,
and yet in this respect it is lagging behind other browsers, such as safari

A "Clear Search History" context menu item was added in Bug 256201, marking as
duplicate.
