Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 Firefox should use the OSX keychain instead of managing passwords itself. This has several benefits: 1. passwords can be more easily shared/migrated between Safari/Camino/Firefox. This will make it easier for people to migrate to the best browser (Firefox!) 2. OSX keychain has some nice features like automatic locking of keychains, multiple keychains with different levels of control, integration in OS, comments, etc. 3. centralisation of passwords is easier for a user to backup, migrate between users, etc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. save password in keychain Actual Results: Password saved in Firefox keychain Expected Results: Password should be saved in OSX Keychain. Mozilla has a similar bug, but no progress: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106400 I believe this is an important issue for Firefox to address on the OSX platform.
This bug's a dup of something from this list. I don't use a Mac so I'm clueless as to which is the correct dup: http://snurl.com/mac_keychain_search

No, it is not a duplicate. Camino already has OSX keychain integration and the bugs you found are mostly about problems in Camino implementation. Firefox has no OSX keychain implementation at all. I've already searched for duplicates and you'll see I reference a similar request in the Mozilla project. But since Firefox, Camino and Mozilla are all separate projects, I figure there are developers working on each and there should be change requests filed separately. Perhaps some of the Camino code could be ported to Firefox?
I'm *reasonably* certain that any code for Mozilla (Seamonkey) would be shared by Firefox as well. Any UI certainly would be different as Seamonkey and Firefox have different UI code, but aside from that I believe that bug would cover this one.
It's a dup of bug 106400 because any such work for Firefox would be predicated by Seamonkey work. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 106400 ***
