Details

An error was reported by a forum user that when the hidden flag is set for the slt folder (or any below in the hierarchy) the same messages are downloaded with each retrieve. This with the "leave messages on server" option set, of course. Since the message itself is properly written to the inbox, it can't be a general access problem. Investigations showed, that the popstate.dat doesn't get modified when in a hidden hierarchy - time modified and content is as it was before. The problem was reproduced on two different WinXP installations but I didn't succeed in reproducing it on Win98.
I've now verified this on W2k but still not on Win98. Clarification, the popstate.date file itself has to be hidden. On the original system that has been done implicit by saying OK to the systems question if any child folders or files should also get marked as hidden.
Summary: Problem writing popstate.dat when slt folder hidden → Problem writing popstate.dat when hidden flag set
I read reports about this in Mozilla 1.7rc1 and Thunderbird.
