it seems that mozilla-mail is always offline while it shows "online"
now i can not get mails (pop, imap), news
this happened while i was reading my mails and browsing
(squid-proxy-server, localhost) *and copying an iso-image on the harddisk*
browser = squid stopped = out of diskspace
mail = connection timed out
after deleting the iso-image:
browser = squid was ok after restart
after reopening mozilla in several ways, online, offline, switching between
offline/online, reboot, ...
mail = timed out
it seems that this mozilla-mail-profile is always offline,
it is no firewall- or network-problem because other profiles and applications
can connect to the servers.
mozilla-browser is working like expected in online/offline mode
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. bring your harddisk out of diskspace
2. try to get messages (pop, imap, news)
2a, not sure if i switched at this time offline/online
3. make room on your harddisk
3. try to get messages
Actual Results:
"connection timed out"
mail seems to be always offline
browser is working like expected
Expected Results:
mail should go online and offline like expected
creating and saving new messages, compact folders, ... is ok

Do you added the proxy also in the "socks proxy" field in the preferences ?
oops,
this was one of the first thinks i had done.
no_proxy ? proxy_settings !
stress, added, forgotten :-(
sorry
if i remove the added "socks-proxy" or set the port to "0"
all is ok.
thanks

Thanks :-)
Mailnews will use a socks proxy if entered in the preferences and you got no
connection if the proxy is no socks proxy :-)
