I recently travelled to a different time zone and back, and changed the time
zone settings on my laptop on arrival and on return. On both occasions all of my
MSF files were regenerated by the system, apparently without looking at the old
files, and as a result information about e.g. which messages had already been
read was lost - the same symptoms as for bug 231735 plus all of my junk mail was
marked as not junk.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change Windows 2000 time zone setting
2. Open Mozilla
3. Open any folder
Actual Results:
The MSF file for that folder is regenerated. Certain messages which had been
read (including those imported from cc:Mail via Outlook) are marked as unread.
Junk mail in the junk mail folder is marked as not junk.
Expected Results:
Continued to use the old MSF file, perhaps with adjustments to time and date
information.

Nope, not a complete duplicate although clearly linked. My issue is about time
zone changes, not daylight saving. On my Win2K system with FAT and Mozilla 1.6,
I did NOT have this problem when DST started in March, but I DID get it when I
changed time zones (4 hour change each way) because I was travelling with my
laptop. I expect to be travelling quite frequently, and it is very annoying that
all my mail archives are messed up (many imported from Outlook), as well as my
junk mail setup getting confused.
Is this bug fixed? I seem to be able to still reproduce it in build 2004102505
on Win ME with FAT file system.
If it's not fixed, it should not be duped to a bug that is marked as fixed
(although I believe that bug 136049 is really not fixed either). See bug 136049
comment #46.

I don't think it is fixed. But it is no longer a problem for me on my new
Windows XP system. The MSF files were regenerated neither when I travelled last
month nor today with the change of time.
I think the problem was something odd in my Windows setup, which is described in
bug 127246 comments 26-33. This problem also went away with Windows XP. I think
that for some reason javascript in my Windows 2000 was reporting the wrong time
and time zone and so was confusing Mozilla.
Jim and others, you might like to look at bug 127246 and see if you also have
this problem. If so, this bug is probably dependent on bug 127246, and nothing
to do with bug 136049.
Comments today in Bug 136049 seem to confirm that both time zone and Daylight
Time bugs are the same bug and it's still broken (or regressed) in older Windows
O/S, but fixed in XP. I reopened Bug 136049
