no real big problem, maybe my fault. although I didn't do anything different, 
after I installed FireFox 8, the uninstalled it, now in Mozilla FireFox .7 no 
longer will scroll.. also the forward and back buttons aren't there. I 
uninstalled Firebird and reninstalled. still has same problem

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Firebird
2.Goto a page that is bigger than the screen
3.

Actual Results:  
nothing really happens.  its just ya can not use the mouse to scroll.  you can 
still use the space key to go down and the shift space to go up.

Expected Results:  
have the scroll bar on the right.

Sidebar code differs between Mozilla and Firefox. Themes too. And there are no
back/forward buttons in Mozilla sidebar as far as I can tell. 

Since you changed component back to mozilla browser instead of Firefox:
Does that mean you are seeing the bug in Mozilla too? Please attach a screenshot
and point out where the back/forward button is missing in sidebar. Include build ID.

I don't believe its possible to make neither Mozilla nor Firefox "backwards
compatible", so old versions can support downgrading from newer versions. That
would always invite profile corruption. Please check if you see the bug also
with a new profile.

Also: Are you using any extentions?

Are you using the default theme?

Theme code changed between 0.7 and 0.8, and a side-effect of using incompatible
themes is the disappearance of forward/back buttons and the scrollbars.

Tentatively marking duplicate of bug 216602.
