245146 - mail summary files incompatible between 1.7 and 1.8a2

After moving to 1.8a2 mozilla did not indicate any new EMails in my folders. I
had to explicitely click on each folder to enforce some update (a rebuild of the
summary file?). 

The junk flags were gone. 

A few old EMails were marked as new.

this sounds like yet another regression caused by my change for #244217

on 2004-05-24 14:19, I landed a fix, but the 5/24 linux builds must not have it.
