User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a2) Gecko/20040604
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a2) Gecko/20040604
This happened with Linux RedHat 9 too.
This could be my stupidity also.
The situation was like this: I have RH9 an XP on the same laptop.
There is 3 filesystems on harddrive: ext3 (linux), FAT32 and NTFS compressed(XP)
this Linux kernel supports FAT32 but not NTFS.
The idea was to have the same version of nigthly builds of Mozzilla
on both linux (ext3 and XP NTFS) but to share the profile on the FAT32
folder. So that I could have the same Bookmarks and e-mails to use all the
time, no matter will I use linux or Windows.
I copied the directories back and forth and managed to loose my passwords
from sight.
I think that this kind of use should be designed possible more easily
to the Profile manager.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. To create a new profile in a new folder and then to copy files from
the old profile folder to the new location.
2. Then try to use that new profile.
3. If you managed to do that otherwise,
4. at least the above mentioned problem bugs you.
Actual Results:
Password Manager don´t show /reveal encrypted passwords. This worked in previous
nigthly builds, but on more normal circumstances.
Expected Results:
Show the passwords.
There may be security issues, when fixing this. I think it woud be best to
enhance the Profile Manager to make this kind of installation possible
without having to experiment and to manage the situation nicely.
