Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/125.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/125.8
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9
Firefox on OS X does not receive middle/wheel button click events unless mouse specific drivers are
installed. Obviously this is most often used to click on links with to open them in new tabs. Firefox is
able to pick up the wheel-button clicks on Windows without special drivers installed. Also, Safari and
Camino on OS X are also able to understand and use wheel-button clicks with only the default OS X
mouse driver in use.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use Firefox on an OS X machine with a scroll-wheel mouse attached.
2. Try to click on a link with the wheel button to open it in a new tab.
3. Firefox does nothing.
Actual Results:
Nothing happens.
Expected Results:
Opened the link in a new tab.
I have tried at least three different mice and the results are never different. Firefox never reacts to
wheel-button clicks while Safari and Camino always do.
