RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 171575

People

(Reporter: bugzilla.fbi, Assigned: p_ch)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9

When you open the Bookmark-sidebar (CTRL-B) and enter a search term you get the
results as single bookmarks.
It would be a nice option to display the folder-path they reside in in a
tree-like manner.

Main idea is that the simple name of a bookmark is not always a reliable
identifier; when you have a lot of bookmarks it gets harder to think of
meaningful names to assign.
Since the adding of a bookmark via CTRL-D takes the page's title as the name you
could better identify the bookmark by the location you saved in even if you
didn't change the original name to something meaningful.

Example: Instead of a search-result like this:
   Statistic
   Site-Statistic
   Stats
   Allover Stats

it would be better to optionally have one like this:
- Internet
  - General
      Statistic

- WebSites
  - Work
      Site-Statistic
  - Private
      Stats

- LAN Traffic
  - Allover Stats

I saw that behaviour on a free search utility which is unfortunately only for
Internet Explorer (DZsoft Favorites Search, www.dzsoft.com) and found it to be
extremely useful.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Changed bug status because I more and more get the feeling that the actual
Firefox behaviour couldn't be ment to be this way. The result you get has only
half of the information in it.
Severity: enhancement → normal
Setting a 1.0-block-request to stimulate a reaction. At least someone could
comment if that feature is already there / fixed or if it's a totally dumb idea.

Additionally that would help keep my sanity because I more and more get the
feeling that I posted all this at a totally wrong place.
Flags: blocking-aviary1.0?
this sounds more like an extension, like in IE
this might be a dupe, but it isn't a blocker. Please don't abuse the blocking
flag to try to draw attention to misc. bugs.
Severity: normal → enhancement
Flags: blocking-aviary1.0? → blocking-aviary1.0-
Sorry, no abuse intended. In fact the silence made me unsure about my correct
usage of this bugsystem.

Anyway, could someone point me to a possible dupe?
Dupe of bug 171575?

BTW. I disagree with the "show tree" suggestion (would be too cluttered). Better
would be a tooltip and a "go there" context menu item.
