Reopening, this actually works for me on Linux, but not Win32.

Under Linux, when Firefox sees a application/x-java-jnlp-file MIME type, it asks
me to open with Java Web Start, which is the correct behaviour.

Under Win32, its default handler was also Java Web Start.

On both platforms, the issue you've filed seems to work for me.

The JNLP file should not be rendering in the browser anyway, it is supposed to
spawn a separate application. Basically, your issue works for me.

Can you please confirm this with a new profile? If you're carrying over a
mimetypes.rdf from way back when, its conceivable that you're still seeing this.
Its a dupe. If there is an existing entry under Edit->Preferences->Downloads,
remove/modify it. No need for a new profile.
