This happened while using version 1.6b, and had to upgrade to 1.7 to recover:
1) Nag: Too many times I got asked "you need this or that language to view this
page" without a "don't ask me any more, NO" option; so finally I said 'yes' and
came to regret it. It installed some chinese font, and made a keyboard language
icon appear in my system tray, which I couldn't get rid of. So I went to
options and removed the chinese font, but the keyboard language icon remained in
the systray (comes up every time I start Mozilla; grrr!!!!)
2) Bug: Today I was trying to cut and paste and must have hit the wrong key:
four buttons appeared at the bottom left corner of the screen, two of them with
chinese characters, one had a quarter-moon, and my keyboard would no longer
type; though it was still working in Notepad. I closed Mozilla and started it
again, and it was still in the same state, and refusing to allow me to edit text
with the keyboard. Could not even report the bug, for same reason. So, I
downloaded version 1.7 and re-installed, and this worked.
There needs to be a solution for folks like me who don't want to be haranged to
death with internationalization features one wants absolutely nothing to do
with. A checkmark in options/language: "English only forever thankyou don't bug
me" or something.
Reproducible: Didn't try
