Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040621 Firefox/0.9
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040621 Firefox/0.9

In versions of Firefox previous to 0.9, as well as in other browsers (i.e.
Konqueror), the above URL loads without delay. In 0.9, Firefox dallies on
"Resolving host" for at least ten seconds. Subsequent requests within the same
page, as long as they are made relatively promptly, are normal speed, as is the
actual data transfer.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to http://www.nytimes.com
2. Wait. The status bar should read "Resolving host www.nytimes.com"

Actual Results:
The page loads normally, but with significant delay

Expected Results:
There should have been no delay.
Do you have IPv6 enabled in your Linux distro?
Coincidentally, yes. And removing the module ipv6 solves the problem. I guess
I'll be ending that little experiment.

I'm not marking this FIXED, though, since we only answered my question; the
problem remains.
Dupe per http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/darin/archives/005753.html
