I haven't been able to install extensions on nightly builds, even extensions
specifying 0.8 - 0.9) on nightlies with the 0.8.0+ designation. A click on
install yields nothing. Saving locally and dragging into the window results in
an Install dialog. However, after choosing Install, the Download Manager pops
up and shows the extension "download" as done. The extension isn't actually
installed.

Latest attempt on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.8a2)
Gecko/20040630 Firefox/0.8.0+ clean install
Workaround:
1. Install 0.9.1
2. Install desired extensions
3. Install latest build
Well, since that branch is gone now, I don't think this bug is going to get fixed.

This is still true for 0.9.x+ etc.

Did you test with the nighlty branch build before reopening?
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-0.9/
No, because the problem is with _trunk_ builds. Clarifying in the summary.

I can't install or update any extensions or themes on a clean, latest latest-0.9

Scratch that, as of ...

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.9.1+
StumbleUpon/1.994

... I can install and update extensions and themes (some of which previously
were auto-disabled by due to versioning). Puzzling.

Fwiw, here's how I got to keep using Session Saver extension, which was
previously disabled due to versioning.

What I did (probably this can be greatly abbreviated):

saved copies of:

bookmarks.html
cookies.txt
cookperm.txt
key3.db
prefs.js
signons.txt
and the extensions folder

deleted all firefox directories (install AND profiles)

installed latest-0.9

started

closed

copied over the above files

deleted the extensions dir in the profile

copied over old extensions folder

started (everything was really messed up in the gui)

closed

removed recursively localstore.rdf, XUL.mfasl, and chrome/overlay

started (everything was messed up in the gui, but a bit less so)

closed

removed recursively localstore.rdf, XUL.mfasl, and chrome/overlay AND
chrome/chrome.rdf

started

working OK, but....

3 extension (from the old folder) appear in the extension list, but are
non-functional (really!)

re-installed SessionSaver from:
http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/extfirefox/Session_Saver_0.2d2_nightly23_pass3.xpi

re-installed miniT and EZNav from the standard update site

closed, started

all working OK
This might be caused by what is listed as
TRUNK:#000000 the new EM does not work yet.
on the Mozillazine Firefox forums.
WFM.  I can install Thumbs and How'd I Get Here using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U;
Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20041203 Firefox/1.0+.
