A minor thing, probably, but when I click on a saved URL (above) I first get a
popup windows saying it can't resolve the site, but without any additional
action onmy part, it goes ahead and does find it peoperly.

When you say "saved url" do you mean a url in your bookmarks, a url in the drop
down list in the location bar, or somewhere else?  Is the error message that
pops up a windows error message or a Mozilla error message?
Assuming this is the "Windows cannot find www.google.com" error.
