I am pretty sure the problem is with bugzilla, not my e-mail setup, since I get a lot of mail, both from bugzilla and other sources, and I have not observed this phenomenon with it. copy 1: From - Sat Jul 03 09:49:31 2004 X-Account-Key: account6 X-UIDL: 4061b62a00000288 X-Mozilla-Status: 0001 X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000 Return-Path: <apache@mecha.mozilla.org> X-Original-To: eyalroz@technion.ac.il Delivered-To: eyalroz@technion.ac.il Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by techunix.technion.ac.il (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6DB883574 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 05:42:02 +0300 (IDT) (envelope-from apache@mecha.mozilla.org) Received: from techunix.technion.ac.il ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (techunix.technion.ac.il [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 21247-01 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 05:42:02 +0300 (IDT) Received: from mailgw1.technion.ac.il (mailgw1.technion.ac.il [132.68.238.34]) by techunix.technion.ac.il (Postfix) with ESMTP id 73BEB359D for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 05:21:45 +0300 (IDT) (envelope-from apache@mecha.mozilla.org) Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by mailgw1.technion.ac.il (Postfix) with ESMTP id 64B61FFBB2 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 05:21:45 +0300 (IDT) (envelope-from apache@mecha.mozilla.org) Received: from mailgw1.technion.ac.il ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (mailgw1.technion.ac.il [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 15554-01-62 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 05:21:45 +0300 (IDT) Received: from mecha.mozilla.org (h-207-126-111-200-mozilla.sv.meer.net [207.126.111.200]) by mailgw1.technion.ac.il (Postfix) with ESMTP id D72FAFFBAD for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 05:21:43 +0300 (IDT) (envelope-from apache@mecha.mozilla.org) Received: from mecha.mozilla.org (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by mecha.mozilla.org (8.12.8/8.12.8) with ESMTP id i632LZHi016990 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Fri, 2 Jul 2004 19:21:35 -0700 Received: (from apache@localhost) by mecha.mozilla.org (8.12.8/8.12.8/Submit) id i632LZ0E016988; Fri, 2 Jul 2004 19:21:35 -0700 Date: Fri, 2 Jul 2004 19:21:35 -0700 Message-Id: <200407030221.i632LZ0E016988@mecha.mozilla.org> From: bugzilla-daemon@mozilla.org To: eyalroz@technion.ac.il Subject: [Bug 18574] restore support for MNG animation format and JNG image format X-Bugzilla-Reason: Voter X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at technion.ac.il X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at technion.ac.il Status: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18574 ------- Additional Comments From bouil@bouil.org 2004-07-02 03:23 PDT ------- As a basic user, i can't understand why you wonder about GIF patents. MNG is simply better... So just implements it ! , or remove the PNG support too, arguing that GIF can replace it and IE doesn't support PNG well ! ------- Additional Comments From P.M.Weilbacher@durham.ac.uk 2004-07-02 04:02 PDT ------- Found the webpage again that I was referring to in comment #457: http://entropymine.com/jason/testbed/pngtrans/ When the MNG decoder is used for PNGs, Mozilla displays the "RGB binary transparency" and "Grayscale binary transparency" examples with a black background. ------- Additional Comments From netdragon@gmail.com 2004-07-02 19:18 PDT ------- Removing .png support, ignoring technical reasons, would be unfair to those who have put work into making quality .png support in the browser. I also don't see what we'd gain by dropping .png and we'd lose a lot since some skins and websites use .png. Also, the .png code is not really that much of the code of Mozilla since the image library abstracts a lot of the functionality shared between all image decoders. Also, from what I've heard, there are CSS tricks to get alpha transparency to work properly for IE in .png images if people have DirectX installed, which is nearly everyone. These kind of CSS hacks are becoming more popular to fix IE bugs on Websites, can be commented out using conditional comments, and are often even given away as scripts for your website (such as IE7 on sourceforge -- which doesn't yet afaik handle the .png transparency issue). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email copy 2: From - Sat Jul 03 13:20:10 2004 X-Account-Key: account6 X-UIDL: 4061b62a0000029c X-Mozilla-Status: 0001 X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000 Return-Path: <apache@mecha.mozilla.org> X-Original-To: eyalroz@technion.ac.il Delivered-To: eyalroz@technion.ac.il Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by techunix.technion.ac.il (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7CE2A351F for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 13:12:11 +0300 (IDT) (envelope-from apache@mecha.mozilla.org) Received: from techunix.technion.ac.il ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (techunix.technion.ac.il [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 06390-01-3 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 13:12:11 +0300 (IDT) Received: from mailgw4.technion.ac.il (mailgw4.technion.ac.il [132.68.238.37]) by techunix.technion.ac.il (Postfix) with ESMTP id 62CDF34F5 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 13:12:11 +0300 (IDT) (envelope-from apache@mecha.mozilla.org) Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by mailgw4.technion.ac.il (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5507BF7921 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 13:12:11 +0300 (IDT) (envelope-from apache@mecha.mozilla.org) Received: from mailgw4.technion.ac.il ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (mailgw4.technion.ac.il [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 10214-01-57 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 13:12:11 +0300 (IDT) Received: from mecha.mozilla.org (h-207-126-111-200-mozilla.sv.meer.net [207.126.111.200]) by mailgw4.technion.ac.il (Postfix) with ESMTP id CB36FF790C for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 13:12:10 +0300 (IDT) (envelope-from apache@mecha.mozilla.org) Received: from mecha.mozilla.org (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by mecha.mozilla.org (8.12.8/8.12.8) with ESMTP id i63A6sHi011046 for <eyalroz@technion.ac.il>; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 03:06:54 -0700 Received: (from apache@localhost) by mecha.mozilla.org (8.12.8/8.12.8/Submit) id i63A6she011044; Sat, 3 Jul 2004 03:06:54 -0700 Date: Sat, 3 Jul 2004 03:06:54 -0700 Message-Id: <200407031006.i63A6she011044@mecha.mozilla.org> From: bugzilla-daemon@mozilla.org To: eyalroz@technion.ac.il Subject: [Bug 18574] restore support for MNG animation format and JNG image format X-Bugzilla-Reason: Voter X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at technion.ac.il X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at technion.ac.il Status: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18574 ------- Additional Comments From bouil@bouil.org 2004-07-02 03:23 PDT ------- As a basic user, i can't understand why you wonder about GIF patents.
