Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1
Installing Extenstions globably does not work for a new profile. If I use the
"-install-global-extenstion" command, the extestion installs fine if I ALREADY
have a profile. If I delete the Mozilla folder in Application Data, the
extenstions are no longer functional.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
A fresh new copy of Windows 2000 (no firefox appdata folder)
A fresh copy of Firefox 0.9.1
Do a normal installation
Start Firefox, then Close it (my Profile is genorated)
I want to install extenstions globaly, I download the XPI's to my hard drive,
ieview.xpi and useragentswitch.xpi
I execute the commands
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -install-global-extension
"C:\ieview.xpi"
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -install-global-extension
"C:\useragentswitch.xpi"
I open Firefox I see the extensions have been installed.
I close Firefox and delete my profile directory.
I start Firefox and see a message "All old Extenstions have been disabled".
I don't see my extensions. (but they are listed in the Extenstion manager)
I restart Firefox and I still don't see my extenstions
Actual Results:
"All old Extenstions have been disabled". Global extension install is useless.
Expected Results:
Extenstions should be present in all profiles, existing or newly created.
Thunderbird suffers from the same bug.
I already reported this one, but it's invalid, there is a workaround on the
other bug though.
