Why do you conclude it is still downloading in the background? This sounds more like a duplicate of bug 81857 / bug 173662

It's not. I saw this behaviour. You can check your your modem, it's still downloading bytes when it should not.

Just checking... Are you seeing this download bug on one of the latest nightly builds? Does the download continue indefinitely? And does the file continue increase in size or is maybe the data transfer going nowhere? On Mac OS X, with the latest Seamonkey nightly, if I pause a download, wait a long time, then resume, then I find it may jump a tiny bit in size (say 50-100 kB), but it quite obviously hasn't continued downloading indefinitely. I presume the tiny size jump is because the download stops a second or two after I push the button, and after the download manager stops updating. But it still appears to truly stop downloading. So I can't reproduce this bug on the Mac. cheers

FYI, it looks like the phenomenon I mentioned is the Seamonkey equivalent of bug 227516.

Can anyone reproduce this on a recent nightly build? If not, it should be resolved as WORKSFORME.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.10) Gecko/20071115 Firefox/2.0.0.10 - Build ID: 2007111504 Yap. I'm able to reproduce this, SAME as per give Steps in post one. While 'Paused' download was still on, & File size was increasing in explorer. I would also add that, this BUG is in 'Work Offline' feature, also. (with all reasonable checks -See below) Example of Used URL : http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-2.0.0.10&os=win&lang=en-US Steps taken for reasonable validation: 1) Used Network Connection Monitor build in COMODO FirewallPro 3.0 to check that if any other program connecting through router, is firefox still downloading the file even after pause. (Even checked only for download server IP for real identification of download) 2) NO Add-Ons installed, so can target only DownloadManager 3) No other program running on system while doing test. (checked with Process Explorer 11.4.0.0 (latest) 4) No other PC connected through server. 5) Used latest nightly build? Yes, [firefox-3.0b2pre.en-US.win32 30-Nov-2007 05:31 Size:6.2M] 6) Used with a brand new profile? Yes, created a new profile 7) Checked with download size ranging from 1mb to 879mb, & with different servers on 128kbps ADSL Broadband. Result : Bug Exists & Appears in 'Work Offline'mode also.
