User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040616 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a2) Gecko/20040711 OS XP ver 5.1 Build 2600 xpsp2.030422-1633 SP1. Whenever I try to do a "save as" command, the program locks up/crashes. I must shut down & restart browser. This happens no matter what type of file or page, or where I initiate the command (usually a right click context menu). Possibly a related problem, even though I have changed the default "save to" location under options, when I attempt a "save as" the desktop is always shown. I have tried saving there as well as changing the directory, but it has no effect on the problem. I downloaded & installed the patch for the slow painting problem in the download manager, but this did nothing also. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. right click on any image (doesn't have to an image) 2. select save as 3. watch browser freeze Actual Results: If I click on the browser frame, it displays "not responding" in the blue title field at top of window. No other error message appears. Expected Results: saved the file I am also trying Mozilla 1.7 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040616). This works properly, as does Netscape 7.1 & Thunderbird 0.7.1.

I played a little more. I tried saving a file, & just let the computer do its thing. I came back after about five minutes & found the file had actually saved. Now the program will save files more or less properly, although still not as fast as what I am accustomed to (it still takes 3 or 4 seconds).
