25262 - Beta1: Cannot view what I type in the Compose window

Linux (2000-01-27-08 M13)
win32 (2000-01-27-09 M13)
Steps:
1. Launch Messenger, click on the New Msg to bring up the Compose window
2. Enter the receipient's email id and subject, that works fine.
3. Set focus in the Body field, enter some text

Actual result: I cannot see what I type in the Body field.  But after I send the
message, and view the message, the text is there. 

Expected result: Should be able to view what I type in the Body field

This occurs in the Composer as well (using Task|Composer).
It occurs in both Plain text and HTML text editor 
Occurs on Linux and Win_nt as well.

Mac not tested yet.
