I'm seeing the same problem on the GTK mozilla builds example build 20040905. It looks to be related to the browser componetns In the console of my X session I see these messages (Gecko:25824): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from `GdkWindow' to `GtkWindow' (Gecko:25824): Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkwindow.c: line 1941 (gtk_window_set_transient_for__internal_alias): assertion `parent == NULL || GTK_IS_WINDOW (parent)' failed /usr/local/mozilla/run-mozilla.sh: line 423: 25824 Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"} sending back success status; version 5 Window manager warning: Working around an application which called XSetInputFocus (None) or with RevertToNone instead of RevertToPointerRoot, this is a minor bug in some application. If you can figure out which application causes this please report it as a bug against that application. cd
I have the same problem on my SuSE 9.1. It crashes after wisiting home.pl ang puts: ./run-mozilla.sh: line xxx: xxxx Segmentation fault...
There is problem with freetype2. I've installed freetype2 without Bytecode interpreter and ff does not crash. There is problem with fonts because fonts are replaced by some other signs.
FF did the same for me, even as of 1.6a1. I found that, because I ran the installer with 'sudo' and it automatically launched FF when finished, it changed ownership on some of the files in ~/.mozilla/ to root:root. After 'chown -R uname:users ~/.mozilla', FF runs fine for me without messing about with freetype2.

I have no problem starting recent nightlies on Linux. I'm going to resolve this as WFM. If you have specific problems, please file new bugs on each issue. This bug, as filed, is WFM.
