While using ssh to open a remote session of mozilla, I found out that if a local
session is already opened, the remote session will open as a local one. Using my
local IP and local preferences.
In the other hand, if there is a remote session of mozilla running, and I open a
local one, it is opened remotely, using remote IP, and remote preferences (and
with lag's slowliness). Both systems are Fedora 2, with the latest updates.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a mozilla.
2. Open a ssh connection.
3. Through the connection, call mozilla.
4. Check that the mozilla opened, is locally opened.
Actual Results:
The mozilla opened as a local session. I couldn't use the privileges that the
remote IP had. And the preferences (home page, bookmarks) was the local ones.
Expected Results:
Open mozilla remotely through the ssh tunneling as any other application does.
Both computers are Fedora Core 2, with the latest updates (yum -y update).
This behavior (called xremote) is by design, and its functionality is controlled
by the script you use to launch mozilla. You can file a bug with whoever wrote
your script (Red Hat).
