I generally have thirty or more tabs open in a window, so that only the bookmark
icons are visible. When switching between tabs, finding the tab I want is
difficult -- I can mouseover each tab and read the title line, but this is
timeconsuming. Remembering each tab's position before switching isn't much better.

I'd like to see tabs shaded by when they were last selected and foremost. In the
usual mozilla interfaces, the current tab is lighter than all the others. The
previous tab that was foremost than all the others should be darkest, the one
before that, slightly less dark - but still darker than the usual 'background
tab' setting. This maintains high contrast between current and other tabs, while
giving a visual cue that allows you to move rapidly between the last four or so
tabs. (Invert the algorithm if the current tab is darker than the background
tabs in the scheme.)

MASS-CHANGE:
This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state.

If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way.
If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar).
If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state.

Still valid in SeaMonkey 2.0a3.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
We have no intention of fixing this in SeaMonkey code directly, but feel free to implement it in an add-on for SeaMonkey 2.0 and if it gets enough usage, feel free to propose its inclusion into main SeaMonkey code. Until then, this is WONTFIX.
