Look at the picture. The real/correct resolution is shown in the window border text. The wrong resolution (resized resolution) is shown in the properties window.

I don't know if I'd classify this a bug, per se, since an argument could be put forth for either behavior. When its resized, the actual resolution of the image you're seeing is X x Y, whether the original file is A x B is relatively abstract. As far as I know, IE implemented this first, and does the same thing as we do.
Severity: normal → trivial
Summary: Image resolution displayd wrong on scaled images! → properties dialog shows resized dimensions instead of original dimensions

Oh, well when I saw this I instantly considered it false behavior... I asked some friends to check for that and they considered it false behavior too... It is expected to always show the real resolution now matter how much of it you are currently seeing (due to resize). If noone agrees with me on this I will change the bug to WONTFIX soon...

Addition: Also the properties box is called "image properties". Showing the wrong resolution below due to a optical resize isn't quite the image property... I just find it misleading, we could of course display the image resolution AND the resized resolution...
Can somebody think of any situation where a user really wants to know the size of the resized Image ? I can't - therefor i think showing the real image size makes much more sense. If it is decided to keep it the way it is now, at least a '(resized)' string should be added next to the values to make sure nobody thinks these values have anything to do with the picture.

There are people who'd like this fixed. As this seems a bug, but has an easy workaround (looking at the window title bar instead of the properties window) I'd classify it as minor. I checked about other systems and this behaviour is there on Linux, Windows98, Windows 2000, Windows XP so I classified it as OS:all.
Severity: trivial → minor
OS: Linux → All
