User-Agent: Mozilla/4.8 [en] (Win98; U) Build Identifier: version 0.7.3 (20040803) In Thunderbird, seclt Tools, then Import, select Mail, click Next, select Communicator 4.x, click Next, button greys out and nothing happens - even left it running for 2 hours but no mail migrated from Netscape 4.8 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select Tools->Import 2. Select Mail, click Next 3. Select Communicator 4.x, click Next Actual Results: Next button greyed out but nothing happened (no mail converted) Expected Results: No dialog box popped up requesting location/confirmation of Netscape 4.8 mail and OK button to proceed (or Cancel to abort)
I can confirm this bug on Win2K when attempting import from either NS 4.08 or NS 4.79 .. using T-Bird version 0.7.3 installed today.

I can repro this on linux fc2 using 2004112905-0.9 tbird bits. the odd thing is that I don't even have Netscape 4.x on my linux box --not even a ~/.netscape directory. (but I do have a ~/.mozilla)

I don't think this is a blocker anymore and is probably a WONTFIX now, we've actually been in the process of ripping out the old Netscape 4.x importers & migrator code from the repository. If a user is still using Netscape 4.x and wants to migrate the 2.0.0.x line product line can be used to do the import. There are other bugs that go into more detail about that decision, I'll see if I can find them.

FYI: Tomcat mentioned on IRC in re: to this bug that "it seems not possible to migrate mails/settings/ when you change from Seamonkeys to tbird".
