User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040831
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-AT; rv:1.7x) Gecko/20040616
When you type in an URl or a serch string a line under the eventual URL history
should appear.
Actually only a 1p small line comes which looks more like a graphic error.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.type something in the URL line
2..
3..
Actual Results:
Nothing, only URL history appears
Expected Results:
"search XXXXX for should appear"
This is viewed with the AT Installer Versions from mozilla-europe of 1.7x,only
when being installed newly (no previous Mozilla version installed ever).
Installing it on existing Settings does not show this effect.
I had this bug about 6 or 7 times since 1.7 final on diffrent win32 Versions

Check your preferences. Is the preference for showing the "search for" bar on?
Also, if this is only a problem with mozilla-europe builds, why is it being
filed here?
Summary: No "seach for" line appears when typing in URL → No "seach for" line appears when typing in URL

I DO NOT MEAN THE SIDEBAR!!!
I'm talking about the line under the URL history !!
Whith this problem Internet Keywords + Sidebar are your only chance for Search

because IMHO it's not a translation/localisation problem!

To be precise, you were asked if you had
Edit/Preferences.../Navigator/Smart Browsing/Location Bar
Autocomplete/Automatically complete text typed into Location bar checkbox
checked/Advanced button clicked/Show list of matching results checkbox setting
is checked and Show Internet Search Engine checkbox setting is checked.
Now, if you have these precise settings checked, selected, then you should see
the 'Search [Search Engine name] for '[your string]"' when you type in a string
into the location bar.
Can you verify all this? And (very important) then report back into this bugfile.
WORKSFORME with Mozilla 1.8a3 build 2004090105 under XP Pro SP2 here.

is checked and does NOT work (Win XP Home 1.7 Final)
a 1.7.2 with this bug and updated to 1.8 a3 WORKED
will try to upgrade another one and see if this does it
Update to 1.8 3a and UNchecking the "saerch engine" option, Browser restart and
check option again -> working.
WORKSFORME (don't know if FIXED or INVALID) would be the correct marks
