User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.8 I use a Swiss keyboard layout. The '+' character in this keyboard layout can be typed by pressing SHIFT+1. In order to issue a CTRL++ to increase the text size in Firefox 0.9.3 I have to press CTRL+SHIFT+1 . Pressing this keyboard combination does not have the desired effect of increasing the text size. Nothing happens. Pressing CTRL+- correctly decreases the size of the text in the browser as '-' does not require a SHIFT to type the character, i.e. it is a 'normal' character. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Pressed CRTL++ on a swiss layout keyboard Actual Results: The text size did not increase Expected Results: The software should have increased the text size The german keyboard layout also has the '+' sign above the '1' , i.e. + = SHIFT+1 so the problem ought to occur here as well. Note, on a German or Swiss keyboard layout there are some characters that are mapped when pressing the AltGr key, e.g. AltGr+E = Euro sign, AltGr+2=@, AltGr+3=# .
Reporter: There's also a + on the numeric keypad ... that's one works.
(In reply to comment #1) > Reporter: There's also a + on the numeric keypad ... that's one works. Notebook user :-) No numeric keypad. I have a Dell D800. When I press CTRL+Fn+- (the 'numeric keypad' + is on the same key as the normal key -) then the "Edit/Increase text size" keyboard shortcut works as it should. Thanks for pointing me this workaround. Regards Rudolf
It's mentioned in bug 198233, but it's very difficult to assign keyboard shortcuts that work on *all* keyboards.
