There are several options for setting the format of the reply header ("Author
wrote:" by default), but there does not appear to be an option to add the e-mail
address ("Author <user@host.com> wrote:"), which has largely been the standard
I've used for about a decade.
By setting mailnews.reply_header_type in user.js, it is possible to add a
timestamp, which can be useful, but it does not appear to be possible to add the
e-mail address itself, unless the original message had no name to it and just an
address.
This is generally not an issue for replying to a single person, but when replies
get to be a few layers deep, old addresses can get lost.

Bug 107884 (which is not filed in the right component if you ask me) mentions
the email address as one of several options to provide. Right now, that feature
doesn't exist at all. Changing this to an enhancement, moving to Mail/News.

This issue is still unresolved. It would really be helpful to have this option
when posting to newsgroups. Note that this issue is related to news, not mail.
Mail replies can already include the e-mail address in the header; I'd like to
be able to do this in newsgroups. Thanks
