Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 Situation: When using two more more tabs, it is possible to be entering text into one active tabbed page whilst loading other tabbed pages in the background. However, if an inactive tabbed page has an error like a 404 error or some components on that page cannot be loaded, Firefox produces a pop-up box error message. This is OK however it is very intrusive since it interrups what a user is doing on an active tabbed page. Subsequently, the tab with an error on it becomes the active tab, forcing the user to OK the error message and revert back to his original page to continue his work. Wouldn't it be nice if the user didn't have to respond to every Firefox error message if it wasn't urgent? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. CTRL + T for new tab 2. CTRL + T for new tab again 3. Load one web page like www.slashdot.org in first tab - Press Enter. Wait for page to load 4. In other tab, load up a webpage with error on it or one with 404 error 5. Try to go back to slashdot tab and see how long it takes before Firefox interrupts your viewing to tell you the other tab had an error on it i.e. "The page you are trying to view cannot be loaded" pop up box appears. Have to OK this before proceeding. Expected Results: If a 404 error had occured in the other tab, the tab with the error on it should either appear a different colour like Red allowing the user to tackle the error notification in his own time.
The ultimate solution would be fixing all dependencies of bug 28586 then enabling error pages by default.
