User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 The summary pretty much says it all. I currently have popups blocked in my preferences. I went to www.somethingaful.com (URL is NOT misspelled) and found that it was able to defeat the popup blocker when you close the window or tab. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit www.somethingaful.com 2. Close the window or tab used to view it 3. Observe two popups. Actual Results: Two popup windows appeared Expected Results: Blocked the popups.
I can reproduce this bug also with Linux Firefox 1.0PR, but it does not happen when you close a TAB with CTRL+W
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; @AB_CD@; rv:1.8a4) Gecko/20040923 Firefox/0.9.1+ There is a small frame at '/top.php' which has a popunder javascript on 'body unload' that calls window.open( ). The second time I tried this, the frame I spoke of, ingeniously called "popup management" goes into a zombie-like state in which I cannot close it at all and menus are disabled (that is probably a Mac thing). FWIW, part of the problem here is that we advertise 'popup blocking': apart from the fact that it must appear rude to people who have a need for pop-ups on their site, it is a clear challenge - in your face - to the black hats, and just asking for trouble. I don't want trouble when I use a browser: but I never, ever, ever want a remote site to open a window through javascript without my express permission. I don't think that Firefox has has option, but my recollection is that iCab does.
